At Barlow Medical Centre, we want to make sure that everyone can access our services fairly and comfortably. If you have a disability, health condition or communication need, you may be entitled to reasonable adjustments to help you access our services.
What are reasonable adjustments?
Reasonable adjustments are changes we can make to our services, communication or the way we provide care to make them more accessible for people with disabilities or other needs.
Depending on your individual circumstances, reasonable adjustments may include:
- Providing information in an accessible format, such as large print or easy-read information.
- Allowing additional time for appointments where appropriate.
- Providing support with communication, including using an interpreter or other communication support where required.
- Offering an alternative way of communicating with the practice, where possible.
- Making reasonable changes to the way appointments are arranged or provided.
- Providing assistance when accessing the practice.
- Taking account of sensory needs or other adjustments that may help you feel comfortable when using our services.
Reasonable adjustments are considered on an individual basis, as everyone’s needs are different. We will discuss your requirements with you and do our best to make appropriate adjustments.
If you need a reasonable adjustment
If you have a reasonable adjustment that would help you access our services, please let a member of our practice team know. You can tell us when booking an appointment, when you arrive at the practice, or by contacting us in advance.
Where appropriate, we can record your reasonable adjustment needs on your patient record so that members of our team are aware of them when you use our services in the future.
If your needs change, or you require a different adjustment, please let us know so that we can review this with you.
If you are unsure whether something you need is a reasonable adjustment, please ask us. We are happy to discuss your needs and how we can support you.
