Diabetes, You and me, is a community based Peer Support group, aimed at patients who are living with Diabetes. The group aims to provide tips and encourage conversation to empower patients to live a healthy lifestyle and to learn more about living with the condition.
What does Diabetes, You and Me Offer?
Diabetes, You and Me offers both clinical and lifestyle support to help patients manage their diabetes in a peer-supported environment.
They hold fun cooking sessions where patients can find out how to cook their favourite recipes in a more healthy and Diabetic friendly way. They also offer clinical sessions with a specialist Diabetes nurse as well as discussion forums where patients can talk about their experiences and share hints and tips.
When and where are sessions held?
- Sessions run from 1pm-3pm every Monday at Barlow Moor Community Association, 23 Merseybank Avenue, M21 7NT.
- The first Monday of each Month is the ‘Ask a Nurse’ session with a specialist Diabetes Nurse.
- The second Monday of the month is a fun, practical cooking session to help patients learn to make their favourite meals in a healthy Diabetes-friendly way.
- The last two Mondays of the Month are for group discussion.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No! If you are diabetic and feel like this would be useful for you, then feel free to drop in to any of the Monday sessions.
