Ordering repeat prescriptions
If you have items on repeat prescription, please order them when you have about 1 week’s supply remaining.
The quickest and easiest ways to order your repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (in the NHS App or through the NHS website)
- via PATCHS (our online consultation platform)
- using the GP online system: Patient Access
These accounts show you all your repeat medicines and dosages, so you can choose the ones you need to order.
If your online account is not linked up to your GP record yet, please fill in a PATCHS admin form or call us on 0161 445 9000. We’ll set this up for you.
If you are unable to use online services, you can still bring your paper repeat prescription slip to the practice or ask your preferred pharmacy to order for you.
Unfortunately, we are unable to take repeat prescription requests over the telephone or by email.
Collecting your prescription
Your prescription should be with your nominated pharmacy 2 working days after you have ordered it. You can then check with your pharmacy when you can collect your order.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions (e.g. NHS App)
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
- at the surgery, either in person or by calling us on 0161 445 9000
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription (‘over the counter’ medicines).
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
Go to Medicines A to Z (nhs.uk)
If you have any queries and would like to speak to someone at the practice about your prescription:
- use our online consultation system PATCHS
- phone reception on 0161 445 9000 before 3pm
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, you may need an annual review of your medicines. This will usually be done by our Clinical Pharmacists via the telephone. We will be in touch when your review is due.

What to do with old medicines
If you have medicines which are no longer needed, please take them to any community pharmacy. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
